Window Covering Design Trends 2013

It is the beginning of 2013 and we are entering the begining of the spring refresh season which means that it is time for the roundup of window coverings, blinds, drapery and colours for the new year.

Popular Blind and Drapery Styles

Roman Blinds and Shades

These blinds are a cross between the function of a blind and the fabric and style of drapery. Whether a solid or a pattern these are sure to be in style for years to come. The most important things to remember is scale, colour and if using a pattern to make sure that it the fabric repeat is adhered to.

Roman Blinds and Roman Shades

Ripplefold Drapery and Ripplefold Sheers

Ripplefold is an extremely popular design trend this year. The clean drapery pleat and tight curtain stack allow for easy traversing and   an uncluttered finish. This form of drapery is being used by us in Toronto extensively especially in condominum drapery. We have done several condominium lobbies with this type of drapery in sheer fabrics.

Ripplefold Drapery and its window blind cousin the Luminette are great choices for any place where a modern drapery treament is needed.

Colour Q1 2013

Gemtones and Bright is In

This years European design shows bring us the introduction of Gemtones including emerald Pantone's color this year, rubies and other bright colours.

The Pantone Colour institute has put out the colour report for 2013 with a focus on bright colours with a grounding in "earthiness"

My favorite is the Glamour Palette which combines dark "50 Shades of Grey" with hot rich red, cobalt blues and crisp whites.

Wrap Up 2013

This year has some real new exciting design trends I personally haven't been this excited since brown became the new black.
